AERODYNAMIC PERFORMANCE

METRON Advanced Equipment can use wind tunnels testing to understand the aerodynamic performance of the equipment under development.  The goal is always to approximate the real world situations as closely as possible.  

POST CFD WIND TUNNEL

To achieve a world class design, CFD and FEA should be used to indicate the path towards a small number of potential solutions.  Rapid prototype models or actual components of these solutions can then be tested in the wind tunnel to give the opportunity to down select the option that most closely represents the real world application.

DESIGN INTEGRATION

Aerodynamics is important but should not be seen as the only factor in a design.  For optimum performance, aerodynamics should be integrated with other factors such as strength, stiffness, weight and most important, reliability.
